Why Waste is a free, online waste exchange for businesses in the Yorkshire and Humber region. It's managed by Bradford Environmental Action Trust (BEAT) – an independent, charitable trust and social enterprise.
BEAT works with a range of partners (businesses, individuals and community groups) to bring about positive environmental change. We aim to offer practical and innovative solutions to local and global environmental issues including resource management, climate change and biodiversity.
Eastex
Why Waste is working in partnership with Eastex, The East of England Materials Exchange. The two schemes are now linked and use the same database developed by Eastex over the last five years. Users of Why Waste and Eastex can now access resources over an area stretching from just north of London right up to North Yorkshire although local exchanges are obviously preferable.
Local Green Business Support Organisations
Why Waste has forged strong partnerships with other sub-regional, green business support organisations who help to deliver the Why Waste service at a local level across the Yorkshire and Humber region. These organizations each bring with them a wealth of environmental expertise and local knowledge. We believe that our hands-on approach is vital to the success of the scheme and that these partnerships add considerable value for Why Waste users by providing links into other relevant environmental support. By being proactive we can help drive successful waste exchanges for our users.
